Can a........................ be missed on an MRI?!

Question: is it possible that a spinal cord tumor could be missed on an MRI without contrast??

Answers: is it possible that a spinal cord tumor could be missed on an MRI without contrast??

I don't see how it could miss something like that.
My daughter had had numerous MRI's to image a cyst, (syrinx), in her spinal cord, and it shows up fine without a contrasting solution.
I would think a tumor would be even denser, so it stands to reason that it would show up all the more clearly.

Very unlikely.
The person reporting on the scan will be a consultant radiologist, unless blind, they would be very likely to pick it up.
If you're still concerned ask to speak to your consultant and tell them of your fears, i'm sure you'll be put at rest .
