Should I see the doctor again?!

Question: I'm on antbiotics (2 days), but my fever is very stubborn. It's usually 103 and when I take Ibuprofin it goes to 99 for about 3 hours before going back up.

Are you sure that you don't have the flu? I am having the same problem with my fever but I have the flu and thats normal until it runs its course. If you do have the flu you shouldn't be taking antibiotics. The doctor can do a quick 10 minute test that will tell you if you have the flu it is kinda like a pregnancy test.

sounds like you have the flu. l took a lbuprofin a few hours to and l still feel like lm burning up. but the antibiotics won`t do this to you but l think you should go back in to see your doctor

What are you on antibiotics for? For your antibiotics to fully work at its maximum potential, you have to take all of them before you see if it is indeed working or not. Normally, you'll start feeling better within a few days of therapy. Taking IBprofen or some other NSAID to lower your f ever is the best idea. If you still feel like crap in a few days, go back to the doc. Until, drink lots of fluids and get plenty of rest :)

It would help to know why you're on antibiotics. Perhaps the antibiotic you're taking isn't the right one for the infection you have.
A fever means your body is fighting off infection. It's not necessary for your fever to be normal when you have an infection. If the high temp bothers you, you can take medication for it. But if you can tolerate it, the high temp is helping make your body uncomfortable for the bacteria. That helps kill off the bacteria.
If your temp still goes up to 103 after you've been on antibiotics for 3 days, you should call the doc office and tell them. They may want to change or add another antibiotic.

Be sure you're drinking plenty of fluids because a fever will cause dehydration, and that alone can cause your temp to rise.

What AB have you been prescribed and what dosage? Some ABs provide more of an immediate response while others may take a bit longer, but if your fever has not dropped at all, and you have no idea why you have been prescribed the AB I would go back the Physician that prescribed you the AB. Do you have any other major symptoms? (vomting, etc)

a little bit detail in the history of present illness please?

I advise call the doctor and express your concerns. Ask him all the important questions you have Good Luck.
