What is the usual length of the flu and how long should the fever last?!

Question: Well, I am just getting over the flu and it has been 7 days now. I had the chills and fever the first few days, sore throat, started coughing, stuffy nose, etc. Then came the extreme weakness, severe coughing and congestion, headache, the feeling that you just got hit by a truck....yuck! I am feeling MUCH BETTER now on the 7th day, but still coughing A LOT. Take it easy and give yourself plenty of time to recover. Drinks plenty of hot tea and honey, and water of course. Nyquil really helped me sleep and Dayquil during the day, but really the HOT TEA and HOT CHICKEN BROTH are the best!

Flu usually lasts about 7-10 days. Fever for the first few. Take Tylenol to reduce the fever, stay hydrated and get some rest.

I agree with N. It'll take about 7-10 days from the first signs to clear up. Take tylenol and get lots of rest. Stay hydrated and don't do anything too stressful. If it persists past 10 days I'd see your doctor to make sure it isn't something else like mono, ugh.
