I used Tea Tree oil on my hair - now my scalp is burning...?!

Question: At school yesterday, I hugged a crying 1st grader (I'm a teacher) who needed some consoling and found out later that she is riddled with head lice (like WAY big time - like the nurse had to have the janitor vacuum the little suckers up after they fell out of her hair in quantity.)

I mixed tea tree oil (it's supposed to help deter the lice from taking up residence - I'm being strictly proactive and precautionary here) in with my shampoo and washed and then with my conditioner and let it set for 30 min, then rinsed it all out. I did this last night and today.

Now my scalp is quite unhappy.

Other than no more tea tree oil, does anyone have any recommendations to make my head feel better?

I think I overdid it.... :)

Give your scalp time to recuperate, then if you find that you have lice. I would recommend dying your hair lice nor nits will survive the dye. It works better then the lice remover.

tea tree oil has to be dilluted before applying on scalp and skin. unless directed by a pro.

just use real lice remover.. or shave sorry for your ordeal thats a bad situation

Shave your head and have a lice day!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

This may sound weird but try shea butter or milk. Leave it on for a while then rinse it out. It should help.
