Sore throat remidies?!

Question: I am a singer, and have a show in a few nights.
For the past week or two, i have had a terrible sore throat and flemy chest
other than gargling salt (makes me ill)
and medications, does anyone have anything that you think will help sooth the throat.
thanks guys.

I too sing in the choir and with my husband group. I am lead female singer. When I have a sore throat, I make a mixture of lemon juice and honey. this soothes the throat, will not cause any mucus build up. Never use dairy products before you sing because then you will have a mucus build up. It works for me. Make a big container full. Taste it as you make it to make sure it's not sour lemon your tasting because then you'll pucker up. It really works for me, I hope it works for you.
Edit/ The good thing about the honey and lemon is you can drink it between sets.

nurofen is great really good for sore throats will only last about 12 hours though but very effective.

Gargle with mouthwash, it will sting, but it will def help.
Use one with antibacterial qualities, do it 3 times a day for 2 days, and you will be all good.

Maybe make some honey water to drink too, or suck on lozenges. Drink plenty of water, you could be dehydrated.

Good luck with your show!!

I've heard that putting cayenne pepper as hot as you can stand in hot water. Gargle and spit for 5 mins every hr. I did this once and it did actually work!
I HATE having a sore throat!! Good Luck!!
