The reason people die from binge drinking is because their sugar drops and they cannot get it back up.
Alcohol LOWERS blood sugar.
Binge anything is never good and is especially bad if you have diabetes.
One to two drinks a day is fine.
Any more and you really need some help to save your life.
I wish you the best.

Your blood sugar goes out of control. Diabetics really shouldn't drink. Talk to your doctor or see if he will make a referral to a dietician.

This might help you. ~ Sorry, I have no idea why the links are not working today.
People who are diabetic that drink can increase pain, burning, and numbness from the condition. Also consuming more then 3 drinks raises your blood pressure and your triglycerides.

NO ONE should binge drink!!! You can get alcohol poisoning or kill yourself even if you are a "normal"!!!!

A couple of drinks for men and one for women are not bad. This also depends on the meds you are taking. Alcohol enhances the action of some meds and negates some others.

Grandma says "Don't drink!!"

Its kind of an odd response. Alcohol is not converted directly into sugar, it gets metabolized into glycogen and stored in the liver. So, the alcohol metabolism itself, does not affect blood sugars. The effect of alcohol on blood sugar comes from its effect on the ability of the liver to produce glucose. Alcohol inhibits glucose production at moderate amounts, and nearly stops it at high concentrations. So, it lowers the blood sugar level and can synergisticly increase or prolong the effect of insulin.

The initial effect is a spike in BG (much higher of course if it's a mixed drink with juice), and then BG will crash a few hours later. Everyone's body is a little different, so you need to experiment to see how it affects you.

If you are diabetic, you should never drink alcohol again. It will raise your blood sugar to an extremely high level that your pancreas will be unable to fix. You will only cause yourself damage and bring yourself closer to the number one most expensive lifelong disease, for the number of complications it brings.

Honestly I must say that occasionally I do drink vodka and sugar free cranberry. I've learned in my 37 type 1 years that if I'm going to drink I HAVE TO snack. If I do not snack i have bad reactions in the morning.
I can also tell you that moderation is the key. I've known too many type 1's who ended up dead because of the lows in the am from the booze. Not a good combo - type 1 diabetes and alcohol.
