Acid Reflux or anxiety? Or both?!

Question: I have been having this feeling in my chest and I feel like I have trouble breathing but I don't. It's like it feels tight in my esophogus but I can breath fine. And sometimes breathing in hurts inside my esophogus. And there are times when my stomach feels tight and hard, and hurts. I feel bloated sometimes for nothing, I can't eat much at a time, very little. I do watch what I am eating due to not wanting to start anything in my stomach. At the same time tho when I feel the fluttery in my esophogus I feel flushy from my head to my toes. Then my face will get red and I just feel hot for a sec but the uncomfortable feeling in my chest is still there. I will get this slight dizziness when all this happens too. I at the same time have a parotid gland tumor that causes pressure on the back of my throat. I have been to many docs and they just say it's either anxiety or acid reflux. I am only on prevacid. Any ideas? I'm so confused anymore, any information would be so great!!

You need a diagnosis, soon. If it is reflux, it needs to be caught and treated properly, and you need testing for that, and to see what the cause could be. Sometimes, Reflux is caused by bacteria, H. pylori, and if left untreated, can cause a person major problems, like cancer, in the future.
You need an endoscopy, and a culture. Soon.
And meds are a very individual thing. What works for one person, might not work for another. Let doctor help.
And read up about reflux and its causes and treatments. If you do not eliminate the causes of your reflux, and identify the things that aggravate it, then no medication is going to be totally effective.
Go to nih.gov, it is a good site for just about any disease.

I have the same issue, and believe it to be anxiety related but with maybe a digestive problem. There is tighness in the left side of my chest like a heavy pressure, seems difficult to breathe when it's not. I do take things for it but need to get further analysis to get better treatment cause it really sucks.
Also trying to be more aware of the things I eat that may be causing the issue...
Good luck!

Prilosec is the best for acid reflux(my 10 year experience).
I have been taking it for years and now consume 80 mg per day, 40mg after breakfast and 40mg after dinner. I eat a small early (5 to 6 PM) dinner and try to consume only liquids until sleep.

I did the sane thing and had gallstones. Don't listen to the person saying Prilosec is the best medicine. I was on it for 3 months and it made my GERD worse. I am now on Nexium and have been for about 6 years. Medicines are different for everyone.
