Can I work out right before I give blood?!

Question: Aw, take the day off! you deserve it.!

Answers: Aw, take the day off! you deserve it.!

Technically, there's nothing to stop you, but I wouldn't recommend it. A workout is going to boost your heart rate and your blood pressure. Losing a sizeable amount of blood is going to do the exact opposite. A massive shift like that will very likely cause you to pass out. Think how lightheaded you can get after a workout as it is, and then double or triple that. You want to be calm and relaxed before you give blood. So, for the record, I fully support you doing both of those things, just not at the same time!

you will be dehydrated and that makes it tougher to give blood

working out dialates your circulatory system so i would make it easier to donate blood. do not however work out after donating blood.-blurey

The answer to you question is yes.

Now lets consider a few details.

Give blood, you are asked to drink and eat a partial meal that adds glucose to your system to help your body deal with the stress of give blood. Blood pressure drops a little. During this time you are monitored to make sure are not too weak.

Your work out, burn glucose, reduce water content of you body. To recover your body draws on your reserves to get back to it balanced position. Blood pressure has risen.

So now you give blood. Remember you were working out so now your body is behind the power curve.

Not a smart move. Think about it.

Best Wishes.

you know you can, if you feel like if actually will power produce, antibodies thatll help you recperate and get well, so feel free.
