Question: lavender mixed well with cream (as in the stuff you put on your strawberries) and then a drop of orange juice. It works so well even though it sounds so strange.

Tea tree oil works better than many of the special cold sore creams.
If you are definite not to use the most successful treatment, which is Zovirax, a true anti-viral ointment, then all you can do is use surgical spirit to dry the blisters and keep them clean.

Maybe sounds stupid but alcohol or perfume both work great.
