Type 1 Diabetes Die t/ Weight loss / healthy?!

Question: I am 21 male Type 1 Diabetic and am on Five injections a day.

I am 180 cm and weigh 78.1kg (24.1 BMI) I have already lost 5kg since January and am looking to loose another 7kg.

I have lost weight by skipping my morning injection and reducing all my insulin's. Although I am now skipping an injection I have been monitoring my blood sugar very closely to make sure it doesn't go high and it seems as If I managing to control my blood sugar levels better than before.

I am eating healthy lots of fruit and veg and only two meals a day. plus a snack in the evening.

I just wanted to ask is this safe as I know if I tell my doctor he will say your not meant to skip injections but I am scared of putting the weight back on again.

first off i,m also a diabetic, and as long as your blood sugar are in the range your doctor recommends, keep up the good work,if just by loosing some weight you have been able to cut back on your insulin that's telling me your on the right track.the key to success of your plan is keeping close watch on your sugar levels.as for telling your doctor hold off untill you can post atleast 30 days of good blood sugar readings. he will want a blood test run (you know that) to check on the A1C level.i don,t know what yours is but the doctors would like it under 7.0 mine runs 7.6/8.1 and my doc keeps telling me to lose weight! so you see, your doing the right thing!keep up the good work just don,t get crazy with the weight lost thing.good luck feel better.

well your getting better I suppose, you need to exercise and sweet alot, make ur mscles thighter and pores open, you need to feel the heat that you brn your fat ant sgar, brn that fuel, so it wont crstalyze and block your pores arteries congest vessels workout till your beat, next day do little then more till you get used to it and till your sweet is no longer sticky, you know when I was a kid my pee was so sweet ants loved it. my mother told me abot it when i was 14, I was so crious abot it so I peed otside the house coz I know for a fact that it sppose to be salty, I was 6 back then when I grow fond of ants drinking pee. coz back wen I was three Ididnt know humor.

Thanks to jimd5293 that was a very good answer. My HBA1C is 8.3 but that was before I went in the diet.

To the other poster ezekiel I don't have a clue what you are talking about ants urine WTF!?!

Hey

I don't think your weight loss has anything much to do with you skipping an injection a day.

I'm type one diabetic too: the reason type ones experience weight loss is because their body can't absorb glucose from their blood and so break down fat and muscle which forms ketones and makes the blood acidic (damaging organs).

I think you'd lose weight, and ultimately be healthier and feel better if you injected when you should.

Because you'd have to be pretty sick before your skipping injections made you lose weight, and then it would mainly be fluids from you pissing them all out.

i am a type 1 diabetic and had to lose a bit of weight which i found hard to do but in the end i did by eating less i only have 1 scoop of mash potato instead of 2/3 cut all fat contents of meat and dont fry just reduce your main meals i have 5 injections a day as well 2 of which has to be in the morning and i dont eat breakfast my hba1c is 6.5 at the moment but it does go way above at times as well but thats my own fought as i have the odd bar of chocolate or cream cake.

I was doing up to 8 injections a day at a 165 lbs. I got an insulin pump 7 years ago and I'm now 106 lbs. The insulin pump made it so I don't have to eat if my sugars are good. I was taking up to 180 units a day, now I average 25 units. It is a beautiful thing. Good Luck on your quest.

sounds like you have a serious problem, skipping your shots will make you lose weight but it is sooooo sooooo dangerous! i am also type 1 diabetic but i have a insulin pump. there is a name for what you are doing and its called diabulimia its when diabetics purposly withhold their insulin shots in order to lose weight. i know how you are feeling being a little over weight because i am too. i am doing weight watchers and have been losing weight the right and healthy way. if you continue doing this you could lose your eye sight...your legs...you could have to be put on dialisis at a very young age. or you could die! dont take the easy way out by with holding your shots. you need to talk to someone!
