Are they close to having a shot to prevent the common cold?!

Question: Nope, too many strains of viruses. It used to be thought that there were only 120 cold viruses---NOT!!
The viruses keep mutating, and each mutation would require a different vaccine.

cold is a virus, so no. there are so many strains that any treatment would be inneffective.

the common cold is actually caused by thousands of different bugs/viruses. I think it would be nearly impossible to prevent all strands of the common cold. You will never get the same bug twice, once you are infected, your body builds white blood cells to fight it, and the cells form a memory of that virus which then blocks it from reinfecting you. But there are thousands of bugs out there, so no, I dont think so.

No, they are not. Being the common cold, there is a lot we do not understand about this disiese :)
