IBS advice... sorry this is very graphic...?!

Question: I usually suffer from constipation but this last few weeks I have been going to the loo several times a day, the problem is that it is very soft and unusually dark (but not diahorrea), and it is causing me a lot of pain, it feels like my anus is burning, although I've been avoiding anything spicy or irritant, and it takes many wipes to get clean which is just making things worse. I also suffer from piles which are really itchy but they don't bleed much. Sorry this is quite disgusting, but its really painful and unpleasant and I'm desperate for advice.

My daily diet is branflakes or a banana for breakfast, soup and a ham sandwich (or similar) for lunch, and chicken or fish with veg and potatoes, pasta or rice for tea. I'm not eating spicy food or drinking much alcohol, so why is this happening and what can I do?

I don't want to go back to the doctor as they can't seem to do much anyway. Any advice much appreciated, thanks.

Buscopan IBS Relief tablets available from chemists. Additionally, drink plenty of water and use Preparation H wipes instead of toilet paper whilst you're sore and Anusol cream to relieve the Haemorrhoids. Do anything you can do reduce your stress levels if you feel under a lot of pressure in your life right now. This was my question several months back - Enjoy!

you could google for ideas

It's difficult taliking about IBS in a pleasant manner!
With IBS, you could have constipation and diahorrea at the same time. The darker the stool, the longer it's been in the system. The pain could be from the piles. IBS is stimulated by nervous situations, and I have found that if you quit smoking the IBS eases off. Milk of magnesia is also good for the pain.

IBS is often misunderstood because traditional medicine has no diagnosis for it. That's why it is labeled a syndrome for now.

On top of all this, most doctors do not know how to remedy IBS; too often medical treatments are completely inadequate and totally ineffective.
IBS is a combination of symptoms that leads to tenderness, throbbing and even agonizing pain. This is usually accompanied by the discomfort of bloating, embarrassing flatulence and irregular bowel movements, including either incontinent diarrhea or obstructive constipation.

The Solution is DIGESTROL?
There are many questions as to what may be promoting all these cases of IBS, e.g. lifestyle, environment, drug reactions, diet, stress, genetics... the list goes on. But Digestrol? is the ONLY solution that addresses the root cause of the actual problem at a cellular level. The success of Digestrol? is its ability to soothe all the symptoms simultaneously, not just one or two.
I would recommend you discuss this with your GP to find out if they think this would be worth a try.
Good luck

Foods don't cause IBS. But some foods may make you feel worse. Foods that may make symptoms worse include foods high in fat or caffeine. Fat and caffeine can cause your intestines to contract, which may cause cramping. Alcohol and chocolate may also make you feel worse. If gas is a problem for you, you might want to avoid foods that tend to make gas worse. These include beans, cabbage and some fruits.
This is the best diet plan I can come up with for you:
Fiber can be helpful because it improves how the intestines work. There are 2 types of fiber:
Soluble fiber helps both diarrhea and constipation. It dissolves in water and forms a gel-like material. Many foods contain soluble fiber such as apples, beans and citrus fruits. Psyllium, a natural vegetable fiber, is a also a soluble fiber. You can buy psyllium supplements (some brand names: Fiberall, Metamucil, Perdiem) to drink and you can add it to other foods.
Insoluble fiber helps constipation by moving material through your digestive system and adding bulk to your stool. Insoluble fiber is in whole grain breads, wheat bran and many vegetables.
Increase the fiber in your diet slowly. Some people feel bloated and have gas if they increase their fiber intake too quickly. Gas and bloating usually improve as you get used to eating more fiber. The best way to increase your fiber intake is eat a wide variety of high fiber foods

You're probably suffering with piles because of the constipation. I had |IBS for many years - some people experience constipation and others the trots with it. Have you tried taking Buscopan tablets available from the pharmacy to help with the cramping and pain from ibs? I can recommend them. Use some cream such as Germoloids for the piles, should sooth the rear end problem. Do keep refraining from the alcohol and spicy food.

Consider this that IBS can also be perpetuated through stress.

Try to identify areas of your life that are causing you stress and deal with them. You may also have allergies to certain foods.

Visit a homeopathic doctor who specialises in food allergies. You may discover that something you think is perfectly natural is actually doing you harm. The doctor will test you with a range of 'extracts' from various foods to identify those that are harming you. I was surprised at how many normal things were affecting me and once I cut them out, I started to feel much better.

I wish you luck...
