Microdermabrasion or chemical peels.
You can get them cheap at spa schools (or expensive at real spas!!), or you can do them yourself.
I have a microdermabrasion scrub from the drugstore, I think it's Neutrogena. I do it about once a week and it keeps those nasty scars in check. It's not an overnight miracle worker, but eventually you'll see results & its the only thing I've tried that works for them.

Microdermabrasion (sp) is going to be your best bet. As that can be pricey, they also sell items marketed as "scar removers" These might be beneficial, although remember that they aren't particularly meant to be used on the face so use sparingly. It's usually a gold-yellow colored thick substance.
If you don't have lots of old scars (meaning years) you can use neosporin overnight- don't know if I spelled that right. Most people scar because they try to extract the 'pimples' themselves. If this is you, try to use a topical ointment that dries them out instead. Like Mario Badescu's drying lotion.www.mariobadescu.com However, if you do have older scars microdermabrasion is the way.
