Are oral herpes and canker sores related.....?!

Question: is one caused by the other or are they related in any way?
i've had canker sores from biting my cheek or inside of my lips but didn't develope oral herpes until later.

canker sores are caused by digestive acids which have eaten an ulcer in oral mucosa. herpes simplex is caused by a virus. they are not at all related. canker sores can not cause herpes later on.
