I usually get it bad if I don't sleep elevated at night. Buy a bed wedge.. You'll see a difference! Also try not to tilt your head down too much. That's what also gets me.

I think you have some kind of allergy
and the constant drip might be your body's defence mechanism to flush it out

You should have mentioned your age.... Do you sometimes have bad breath... may be you dont know it... have any one told u this....This may offend you but it's a logical question.
Do your nose gets dry frequently..... is there lot of crust formation in your nose...is the taste in your mouth sour..... if answer to any of above question is yes. consult your ENT doctor. if it's just a chronic bacterial infection , antibiotics may suffice else a small surgery may ber required to reduce the size of your nostrils....

You would most probably benefit with some kind of anti-histamine. The problem is that the ones that are effective (have anti-cholinergic properties) also make you drowsy. diphenhydramine (Benadryl) is the strongest one that you get OTC. If that is too much try chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton). Other non-pharmacological therapies such as honey, elevation, nasal strips are also an option. If you are on any other allergy medications or have any other medical conditions, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

You can try a couple things to help alleviate these problems you are having.

1) Sleep with your head elevated. You need about 5-6 pillows to elevate your head

2) Use Benedryl to dry up your post nasal discharge

3) Buy a Blue Nasal Syringe and flush out you nose with warm tap water (Be advised that you may gag when you do this)

4) You can buy an Ionic Pro Air Purifier. That puts out a good amount of ozone and that will kill just about anything in the air. You can buy one for about $150.00 at Walmart

5) You should tested for allergies by an allergist

Good Luck
