Diet and hives?!

Question: ive had a first, and very severe case of hives the last 9 days, along with swollen lips for about 24 hours, the doctor doesnt seem to know what to do other than take anti allergy tabs and start eliminating.....i was wondering if anyone who has had hives, went on a strict diet of only certain foods, as ive heard this helps, if so what did your diet consist of? thanks

Go on a very plain diet. Avoid items like wheat, shellfish, eggs, milk and peanuts. You may want to try rice porridge for your meals.

Process of elimination takes awhile, too bad you can't get allergy tests.

I had the allergy tests when I was a kid.

Strawberries made me get hives!

I was allergic to dust, cats, chocolate, strawberries, tomatoes.

Awhile back I ate shrimp and had a really big hive between my lips and nose.

I just thank God, it didn't swell up my wind pipe. That can happen.
Allergies do NOT always kick in the first time you eat something...It accumulates, then you really see the breaking out.

no shellfish,
peanuts/nuts
gluten or wheat
dairy or
sugar

One book I read said hives are a reaction to candida albicans (yeast). There is a strict diet in the book The Yeast Syndrome, by Dr. John Trowbridge, that is good for yeast, diabetics and hypoglycemics. It took 10 pounds off of me in 3 months.
