vitamins won't stop a cold anyway, if you have been infected then you will get sick. Just being exposed to someone with a cold tho, doesn't mean you will automatically get it. Rhino virus is spread thru contact not the air. Someone ill touches a surface, then you touch the same surface, then unthinkingly touch your face and bang, you get the cold too. So, keeping your hands away from your face, and washing them frequently will prevent getting a cold, unless someone infected blows snot or coughs right into your mouth or nose, you cannot get it just by being near them.
You can minimize a cold and shorten it's duration by using Zicam nasal swabs, a zinc preparation that is absorbed directly into the nasal mucousa and inhibits viral reproduction.

Years ago the Israeli doctors claimed they had a saline nasal spray that could do that. Haven't heard anything about it recently, however?

You need vitamin C to boost up your immune system. if your so worried about getting sick. Also just because someone around you had a cold doesn't mean you are going to catch anything.

Wash your hands! And wipe don't any surface that the sick person touched with a disinfectant. As soon as you can go get some airborne, it works for me!

drink a bunch of orange juice!
