Pints of blood for kidney transplant?!
Question: Co-worker just found out he needs a kidney transplant and has started dialysis. I was going to start an account in his name for blood banking but don't know if it is worth doing.
Does anyone know how many pints of blood it takes for the surgery?

How many pints of blood your friend will need will depend on how much she looses in surgery. Most Blood banks will take donations and keep them designated for a certain person, or the person can give their own blood (months before the surgery) to the blood bank and they will keep the blood only for that patient. This is usually set up by a Doctor. She should ask her doctor about giving her own blood, which is safer, if there is time. What a good friend you are! Best of luck to your friend.
