Bitter Taste in throat out of nowhere very bad cough, help!?!

Question: Yesterday, I had a bad cough, but not very bad. Last night, I kept waking up coughing really badly and couldnt really sleep. Earlier and now, I keep getting this bad chesty cough, which has been going on throughout the day. I kept coughing up stuff, which was from the back of my throat and the stuff was very bitter. It ran all through my throat and somehow gave me shivers down my spine, also giving me goosebumps. I have absoloutely NO idea what this is, I am actually really young. Any suggestions?

The "bitter stuff" could be the acid contents from your stomach. Have you ever had symptoms of heart burn before? It's along the same lines. You're coughing hard enough that instead of vomiting (as some people do when they cough too much), you're bringing up stomach "juices." Heartburn can also cause a cough itself if it's bad enough.

Try taking something for heartburn (tums, prilosec, etc), and some cough medicine for now, but you should make an appointment with your doctor.

Hope you feel better!

It should be evaluated by a physician to be safe. Check out http://useinfo6.blogspot.com/ for more remedies and information.

sounds like the flu.
