It could be a number of conditions from cold to flu to strep throat to allergies to bronchitis.

Avoid sugar, get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, stop taking multivitamin if it contains iron. You may even try taking zinc (lozenges for example), echinacea, and even drinking more fresh orange juice.
It will be over in 1 week if you take my advice...or 7 days if you don't.
strep throat......I just recovered from this about 2 weeks ago, started out with the chills and a fever, thought I could shake it with some Tylenol Cold and Theru Flu, however this went on for two days........so I end of at the doctor and was given a pencillian shot, prescribed amoxicillian as backup and sent home. Believe me I felt better about 3 hours later. So I don't thinks it's the flu.
