What causes heart failure in a child and what shud she/he eat or shudnt eat?!

Question: Heart failure in a child could be from a birth defect of the heart.
The child needs to avoid large amounts of fluid which could worsen the heart failure because large amounts of fluid puts extra work on the heart to pump. Low salt is necessary to control fluid accumulation. Bananas are good because they are rich in potassium and since the child will probably be on diuretics, they need the potassium to be replaced that gets lost from all the diuretics. Its best that the child has a dietician plan a good diet depending on how severe the heart failure it.

heart failure is not typical in children. The child would have an pre-existing condition, like obesity, or some kind of heart conditon.

There are many different causes for heart failure, including genetic and environmental factors.

Anyone in heart failure, children included, should find a cardiologist who specializes in heart failure to answer questions of diet, exercise, medications, and the need for more invasive procedures. In general, low sodium is an absolute must and there may be some fluid restrictions. That said, there are many specific recommendations that would be tailored to the patient's individual situation.
