Dehydrated but not thirsty?!

Question: I went for a checkup and the doc said that I was dehydrated and I need to drink more water. He said my urine was dark and stinky. But the problem is I am not thirsty and I HATE drinking water when I am not thirsty. Almost makes me want to puke. Is that normal?

Your doctor is right. You need to drink water BEFORE you feel thirsty. You have to dose yourself, even if you do not like drinking water. Have a couple glasses when you wake up in the morning, and a glass every hour or so, more if the weather is warm. Try to average around three pints a day of water, NOT soda/coffee/juice/alcohol. Caffeinated drinks and alcohol are especially bad.

Drinking water regularly helps in amazing ways: it helps you lose weight and you feel les hungry, it helps you feel awake as it contributes to the renewal of your blood and muscles, and cleans the poison from your body, keeps your kidneys healthy. It's a win-win situation. When you have a glass of water; think of the medical bills you save on, and think of your body renewing itself.

Keeping hydrated is no joke, and shouldn't be taken lightly. You may not like drinking water, but you'll like kidney failure even less.

No, you should be drinking water you'll get used to it, you probably drink way to much soda which dehydrates you, you can use crystal light or something to make the water a bit more flavorful.

N O, it's not normal,
but.
i almost never drink water and i'm never thirsty,
even though i'm really lacking water.
ur case reminds me of the time when my sister would not drink water even when she was sick, even whe she should drink it.
so...
i'm not sure if it's normal or not.

How 'bout drinking Crystal Light or other flavored water? And try drinking a little at a time... keep a sports bottle around. A belly full of water can be nauseating to many people normally.

I'd say get some sparkling flavored water, it is yummy and has no sugar, that may help u drink it

Completely normal. I have the exact same issue. I found it helped to drink carbonated water, soda water, or San Pelligrino. Crystal Light makes small powder packets that flavor your water and those aren't bad. I have enjoyed hot tea this winter too. Hope the suggestions help. I know it is hard but I've notice a HUGE difference in my skin and hair since I started to drink all my water. So much better! Best of Luck.

You need to make yourself drink water even if you don't want to. Maybe you would prefer flavored seltzer? Maybe you don't like water, but you need it.

Hi, I am the same way. I keep being dehydrated, very often. I hardly drink much all day long. I'm just not thirsty. Try to drink even if it is juice, orange drink, etc. Try eating something with it, it may be easier to drink then?

Want to her a fact? Not feeling thirsty is a symptom of dehydration. If you don't feel thirsty, it will make you dehydrate even more.

Drink even though you aren't thirsty, or do exercise or running to make you thirsty. Beleive me I had the same problem, keep drinking and eventually drinking 2 huge bottles of water will be easy.

I never drank enough liquid and never felt thirsty either, but I have become better because I really like the taste of mineral water and I also love flavoured water, next time you go to the shops get yourself some flavoured water, they all seem to be fruit flavoured and they are yummy.

Drink any liquids, that are drinkable, not urine obviously, or bleach... You know what I mean like orange juice, flavoured water etc, if you are dehydrated you neeeeed to drink...

The problem is these days we dont realise when we are thirsty...we end up having beverages/food..but skip on water.

Water making you puke is not normal.Drink it sip by sip..slowly u ll get used to it.

It happened to me and now that i drink more water- i feel much better..its great for ur digestion, skin, hair and general well being.

I had the same problem. I couldn't drink water when I wasn't thirsty, it just wouldn't go down. But I forced myself to drink it and now it's a little easier to do. I don't know if it's normal, but I have had the same experience. Putting lemon or lime in your water helps.

don't drink untill you are thirsty.
