I had strep throat last week for the first time. Can I get it again??!

Question: Is it something that once you get it you are more likely to get it again?

You can definitely get it again. I cannot answer if you're more prone to it now. I kept getting recurrent strep infections and had to get my tonsils removed when I was 18. After all of that, I still got strep throat. It made me so angry because I don't like pain and having my tonsils taken out was pretty painful lol. Just make sure you take ALL of your antibiotics, even if you're feeling better. Oh and replace your toothbrush. I know that sounds silly but the bacteria can live in your bristles.

I've had it tons of times. You can get it more than once!

Question #1: You can get it again.

Question #2: You are not necessarily more likely to get it again.

Yes. It is possible to get it again when ever you are exposed to it.

Yes, I had it like 2-3 times a year until they finally removed my tonsils at age 17, now I'm fine and am rarely sick at age 27.

you can definately get it again but you may also be lucky to not get it again. Chances are though that you will be carrying the virus.
I know some, especially myself who have gotten it but now we don't get it at all but others can get it from us.

Yes unfortunately it is. Just be careful and like scrub your house down to get rid of the infection inside your house this will help prevent you from getting it again easily although there is no sure way to prevent it if you are out in public.

yes, u can get strep throat more then once in a year also u might want to talk to your doctor if u get it alot & he can suggest some ways for u to think about if u keep getting strep throat. bb & good luck

My younger brother got it at least once a year while growing up and I know a lot of people that have had it several times. Long answer short - you can get it again...and again and again and again, etc.
