Is it possible to get a server cough from gerd?!

Question: I had a stomch wrap about four years agp due to having four times the normal amount of acid present in my stomach. Now I have a cronic cough and I am starting to get heart burn again after four years of being free from it. I can actually feel the acid seeping into my lungs. Does this make any sence?

yes. Coughing is a symptom of GERD, plus GERD can trigger bronchial irritation and inflammation and set off bronchiospasms (asthma flares). Talk to your doctor.

I have GERD and my doctor told me that acid can cause a chronic cough through irritation to the throat and voice box. Check with your doctor to see if he can run any tests to see if this is the cause of your cough. Good luck

Yes. If it's causing you to cough it may be causing damage to your esophigas... you need to be checked by a doctor and get some meds and maybe change your eating habits.

GERD is when the acid travels back to the tube out into our throat. there are times when we get to taste something in our mouth. gases or vapor from the acid irritates our throat which cuases the coughing.
