About 90 percent of people with plantar fasciitis improve significantly after two months of initial treatment. You may be advised to use shoes with shock-absorbing soles or fitted with a standard orthotic device like a rubber heel pad. Your foot may be taped into a specific position.

If your plantar fasciitis continues after a few months of conservative treatment, your doctor may inject your heel with steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (corticosteroid). If you still have symptoms, you may need to wear a walking cast for two to three weeks or positional splint when you sleep. In a few cases, you might need surgery to release your ligament.

Rest:

Rest is the first treatment for plantar fasciitis. Try to keep weight off your foot until the inflammation goes away. You can also apply ice to the sore area for 20 minutes three or four times a day to relieve your symptoms. Often a doctor will prescribe nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen.

Hope you get well soon.

My father had it. Buy yourself some orthodics for your shoes. You will heal quicker (it should get better after about 2 weeks).

You should be able to find exercises to do on the net that can help as well. My dad that one he did up against a wall that helped. Good Luck!

Hi Diane :-)

I know what you're going through. I had it when I was 35 - It suddenly appeared out of the blue - the severe pain at the bottom of my right foot. I received the same diagnosis, but had never heard of it again before now! I had it for approx. 2 weeks - During that time, I had to borrow a cane to walk with, and I felt silly but I had no choice...It goes as suddenly as it comes on...
So maybe with you - It won't take as long...You're only the 2nd person I've ever known/seen or heard of! that has this mysterious condition I had...Take heart - I've never had it again! :-)

I know of two people who have this and the one thing that does help this ailment is supportive shoes. My mom has this disorder. Seems like flat shoes, such as flip flops and oher shoes with no support seem to worsen the pain. try some shoes such as Crocs. I'm a nurse and wear them they are very supportive and comfortable. Take care..Spelled Plantar Fascilitis:)

It's probably depends on how good are your arch support. Check the review of Spenco at Amazon.com and Superfeet. Some people used those experienced plantar fasciitis. Mine probably a week or two. You have to stretched both of your feet before you get off the bed in the morning. It would help if you can avoid barefooted around the house too.
