Serious cold sore question please read!!?!
Question: I got my first cold sore a month after I started dating my now husband. That was July 2005, I got my next one October 2006 and then I got one 8 days ago. So its been once every 15 months or so. I never had them before him and he told me hes gotten them for a long time, so I know he gave it to me. Anyways, I got this most recent one 8 days ago, it is almost completely gone, only a tiny bit if dry skin is there and I am wondering is it bad that I gave my husband oral sex and then we had sex tonight? I am not going to be able to sleep cuz its bugging the crap out of me. I have read online that once it scabs over it is pretty much over with so am I panicking for nothing? We have never had any kind of sore down there or nothing. Thanks to answers.

technically you can transmit the cold sore virus(herpes type 1) to the genital region by oral sex and the genital herpes virus(herpes type 2) to your mouth. To be safe it would be best to not participate in oral sex while you have a cold sore to decrease the possibility of transmission to other parts of the body. It is also possible to transmit the virus from your mouth to other parts of your body by not properly washing your hands. If the sore was healed over and not open or draining chances are it was no longer shedding the virus and you guys are fine but play it safe and wait until its all the way gone in the future
cold sores are so common, i really wouldnt worry , and you got them before you marry him so you know he didnt sleep behind your back, jus use abreva, and deal with it, or go to a doctor.
as cold sores heal they do something called shedding durring which they can be contagious and its possible to pass them onto the genitals. sometimes there can be symptoms and sometimes there are none at all accept for mild outbreaks. keep an eye on him. look up some of the symptoms for genital herpes and if he starts showing any get him to go to the doctor and get checked out.
