Are you sure it's chicken pox and not something else (have you been to the doctor?)? The only prescription medication to help shorten it and make it less severe is acyclovir, but it will only work if you start it within 24 hours of when the chicken pox started.

If you're sure it's chicken pox and it's been over 24 hours, yes, you'll just need to wait it out. It's a virus and you have to let a virus run its course. Here are a few suggestions in the meanwhile:

Don't scratch!! You can get bacteria into your sores and then they can get infected, not to mention scars.

Use calamine lotion. That will help with the itch.

I'm not sure I understand your shower question, but I don't see why you couldn't take a shower, as long as it's not a hot shower. Hot water will just irritate it. It might be more helpful to take a lukewarm to cool bath, though, especially an oatmeal bath. That will help with the itching and pain both. I would go ahead and use the oatmeal bath right on my scalp. Then pat dry, don't rub.

Take Tylenol.

well they are scabing for one that is a good thing it means they are healing dont pick them they will scar . not much you can do. just be very carful if you try to shower.

You will be just fine. It is a virus it has to run its course. But do not whatever you do, do not scratch them. I know they itch but if you scratch they will scar. You should take Motrin for the pain or Tylenol, and apply calamine lotion or benadryl lotion for the itching. Yes do shower with cool water. Not warm or hot. Because that will aggravate them even more. You can also take oral benadryl for the itching ask mom to help you out with the medications. I can assure you though you are almost done if they are scabbing over. They may scab to different colors but it is not uncommon for them to scab over black. Do note though you are contagious now. so stay away from anyone that hasn't had them. Trust me you will recover. It usually takes a total of two weeks. But remember do not under any circumstances should you scratch. And go ahead you can use the aveno bath to help. When you dry off make sure you do not rub yourself dry just pat.
