Does anyone else have a young child with Anemia?!

Question: My 20 mth old son has been given iron supplements as he is very anemic. Does anyone have any suggestions to boost his iron intake? I just been shopping and got some spinach and other iron rich foods but how do I make it appealing to a child. He will not eat red meat in any way shape or form, so thats out.

Will he eat minced beef? If you buy the good lean stuff and make a shepherds pie thats good.Does he like brocolli? If not maybe hide it in other foods. I think certain fish is good too (mackeral). When he reaches two years you could try giving him a supplement. Theres a really good liquid one called spa tone and its ok for children over two.You can mix it with orange juice. I do hope that helps xxxx

stop stuffing him with sweets and fizzy pop. how can a 20 month old have anemia? it's your responsibility to make sure he gets the right nutrients isn't it?

actually i have a 6 yr old daughter with a bowel disorder myself, all her insides were twisted when she was born and now she cannot poo by herself but has to be 'washed out' every other day, but she doesn't have anemia.

also, if you don't like sarcastic answers when you ask a sensitive question then maybe you should think about that when you answer others too. sweeping floors my @rse.

my daughter had similar .the doc gave her iron medicine which she didnt like.i bought liver and cooked it in oxo in the oven its lovely and soft that way then disguised it in other food.in the end she was eating it practically raw.try something like minadex which a vit supplement and will boost the immune system also give him a good appetite.good luck little man
