Iodine and the thyroid?!

Question: I'm taking 400% of the recommended daily dose of iodine in the form of sea kelp tablets and red kooga ginseng miltivitamins. I have all the symptoms of under active thyroid but blood test showed no problems I bought the tablets from Holland and Barrett under their advice. Is it ok what i'm taking??

Nope, you are taking far more iodine than you should and multivitamins are generally pointless, and can be toxic, in those taking a normal diet. These days hyothyroidism in UK is nothing to do with iodine intake. It is mainly due to autoimmune thyroiditis, ( previously called Hasimoto's disease ). If it is present, ( and your blood tests confirm that it isn't! ) The treatment in thyroid replacement, usually T4, but occasionally T3, and not iodine.

There are many kinds of iodine but the sea kelp is soppose to be one of the best.
Iodine isn't the only thing the thyroide needs
