Anybody know?!
Question: my daughter was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (a mild form). we are waiting for the MRI to tell us more. my question is this:
i make decent money with my job, my fiance is a housewife. will this diagnosis bring our expenses up? like, dr visits, or special stuff we need? and is there any kind of funding we could apply for? how do i go about doing that?
we are hoping that she wont need anything extra. she is a bright happy 18 month old. just having trouble walking and talking.

It depends upon her needs. Docotr's visits won;t cost more, but you might have more of them. SHe might need more medication or visits to specialists. I have two boys with Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome and our medical expenses are outrageous. We don;t pay any more than anyone else, but we just have more procedures and more medications. You can meet my family on our family website: www.shwachman.50megs.com I have a list of resources on our non-profit site, as well www.shwachmandiamondamerica.org Each state has a Title V program that is partially funded by the Feberal Gov't....you may qualify for one of these (Child with Special Health Care needs)-- if your expenses get way out of control (such as a child that needs a transplant or lots of intervention) There are Katie Beckett waivers in each state, too-- the waiting list is long. Depending on your income, you may qualify for assistance from other services..... and your daughter may quailify for SSI or disability.

There are mild forms and severe forms. I know several people with CP, one of which I used to babysit. Hers wasn't very bad; she had to get special lifts for her shoes but that was about the extent of her problems. I think they may suggest physical therapy to help out. As for the costs, I haven't the slightest idea. I am sure there are nonprofit groups more than willing to help, depending on what you need. Good luck.
