Type II Diabetes.........346 to 82......please read...?!

Question: My fiance was diagnosed with Type II diabetes 2 weeks ago from today. At his office visit he was in for a physical b/c he hadn't been feeling well. They pricked his finger and the reading was 346 and his blood pressure was 147/113. They immediately gave him meds & told him what he could and could not eat (also sent us to a nutirionist) He was to come back today for a check up & his sugar reading was 82 and his blood pressure was 130/79. The doctor was very much impressed. We have both been eating exactly as they told us to, he has not cheated at all. He now has to go back in 3 mths and see how he is & see if he will need to continue on the meds. Has anyone else had their numbers drop this much in 2 weeks? I am thankful for it but also wondering if it is safe (I meant to ask the doctor that but we got off track) Is this safe and also if it is this low which is normal does that mean does't have diabetes anymore or is he just controlling them? Thanks for info :-)

CONTINUE TO DO WHAT YOU BOTH ARE DOING NO MATTER WHAT. Even if his glucose numbers become lower it's not a bad healthy, disciplined life style.

However, he will always have the potential high numbers now. As for myself; 600+ down to 140s in a month. Now 115 to 85. I will stay with my new life style and I am very thankful for my wake up call. I would have preferred that it did not include diabetes, but I am better for it.

You did not mention exercise. I hope it include in your new joint life styles. I think you can look for a very long, active and healthy life together. Nothing like a focused interest to improve a relationship.

Best Wishes.

It is all in what you eat and your metabolism. He is very lucky that it seems to be more diet related. As long as he keeps up with a good diet and exercise he should be OK. He should get into the habit of checking his glucose levels a couple of times a day. I have hypoglycemia, low glucose. Therefore, I too have to watch what I eat and test a couple of time a day.

If he was diagnosed with it, he will always have it. Sometimes it can be controled by diet. But usually it's going to have to be controled by medication.

Both my parents are diabetics both with type 2.

I know both of my parents have had issues in the past with their blood sugar being very high and also very low too. But keep going on the diet.

Take care and Good Luck.

he may have been misdiagnosed and is really prediabetic. this can be reversed and he may have his diagnosis taken away.

good luck

the normal range for anybody with or with out diabetes should be between 80 and 120 so he is doing good for right now keep it up
