Skin problem, not serious but help me?!


Question: k, well it all began when i was going to the hispital for a week straight to visit my dad and they make you put that purell hand sanitizer on your hands before going in, and it made my hands break out .. then now its just gotten progressively worse and i have a feelign winter isnt helping the matter any. whenever i try body butter, hand lotion and the good brands of lotion, it makes my hand go beat red. This rash or whatever you want to call it is only on my hands and only the tops of them. It hurts pretty bad too .. like painful and there unknown cuts on my hands too. Please help, any suggestions as to make it go away would appreciated!

Your story does sound like a reaction to the hand sanitizer.

Stop all the lotions and creams.

Wash with soap and water.

Apply OTC hydro-cortisone 0.5% cream three times a day.

Take one 25 mg Benadryl tablet before sleep. (OTC)

Wear loose cotton gloves in cold weather.

This should turn it around in a week.

If it persists or worsens, you have more going on and need to consult medical care.
