Gall bladder question?!

Question: Hi i have been having stomach pain in centre of stomach just under ribs but also to right hand side.I have nausea several times a day which is getting much worse. I have had these symptoms for months. I have lost some weight and have strange taste in my mouth which puts me off eating but at the same time am hungry.
My dr was not very nice and gave me stuff that treats ulcers but those and ant acids do nothing.
My question is that someone said it might be gall stones. however i thought that with gall stones you got very acute periods of pain and nausea not chronic low grade pain like i have.

i know i should go to dr but just kind of hoping it will resolve itself!!

If the pain gets worse after you eat. Ecsepially fatty, greasy or spicy foods, probably gallbladder. If eating makes you feel better, at least for a little while, ulcer or stomach acid. Did you doctor check for liver function and H Pylori? This are simple blood test. Ask your doctor, why he feels it's this rather than that and when to expect to feel better and when to come back. There is a trick to getting what you need out of your doctor. If you really don't like your doctor, change. But if you generally have a good relationship with him, try this before starting over from scratch.
Also, try to avoid telling them you looked it up or asked a friend, even one in health care. It just pisses them off and they won't take you as seriously. Don't ask me why.

my sis had gall stones. sometimes the pain was really bad, but other times she said she had a dull ache that was constantly there which made her feel sick. it could also turn out to be an infection so maybe you just need some antibiotics. xx

I have pain in my gallbladder too. I've had it for 14 years. It usually comes on within an hour of eating something fatty and is sometimes with nausea and a ball of wind in my back which makes my upper right shoulder ache. I've had periods of acute pain for days on end too but it has settled down and that hasn't ocurred for over 11 years now but it does still play up a couple of times a week. It feels like a pinching pain under the ribs on the right. I don't take anything for it. I just watch my diet and avoid fatty stuff, especially at night.

An ultrasound should show if there are gallstones. Lots of things can mimic a gallstone attack, they only way to confirm or rule it out is by looking for stones. Find another doctor if this guy won't listen to your concerns.

gall stone pain is often described as the worst pain you can have. My wife had them and it was cripplingly painful. It was also acute and happened a couple of times a day. what you describe may not necessarily be gall stones, but it could be an early sign. It may also be kidney stones, but i dont know much about them.

first thing he does not has gall stones it is a normal vomiting which may staop if he eats healthy foo and rich vitamin fruits. you don not need to woory you will be better soon.

I had symptoms just like yours. I never had gall stones. The doctor missed the diagnosis for a full year. I went to the hospital twice, and the first time they found nothing and sent me home. The second time, the doctor ordered a test with dye that they put through my gallbladder. They found it had stopped working totally! I had surgery and had it removed. I feel fine now. Go back to the Doctor. If your doctor isn't nice, find another. Don't wait for it to resolve itself. If it's your gallbladder, it won't resolve itself. Whatever it is, you need to know. I sometimes had terrible heartburn. Other times, I felt like my there was a kink on my right side. It's hard to explain what it felt like. The closest feeling was pregnancy- like when you feel the baby move, except there was no baby, and it was high up on my right side, near my chest.
I hope you feel better soon!

I had key-hole surgery to remove my gall bladder after around 10 years of putting it off and only a vague idea of what was wrong, like you.

You have described exactly where the pain originates, but it also sometimes travelled around my back. I had acute attacks of pain and also low level tolerable pain which lasted for days and for no apparent reason. I never knew when the pain would strike, but sort of learned to ward it off by watching certain foods that I ate. I too lost weight, and my appetite was all over the place.

Any anti indegestion remedy seemed to make everything worse and I only got relief with strong pain killers.

You should have a scan to determine if you have gall stones, these come in all shapes and sizes and sometimes go on the move - causing blockage to the liver ducts and acute periods of pain.

The gall bladder sorts out saliva so if something is amiss then you will feel sicky and have funny taste in your mouth and sorry but sometimes bad breath.

Certain fatty foods (in my case bacon) trigger more of a reaction and anything with ice aggrevates things.

Many people have gall stones and are completely unaware of them, but you may have to have this dealt with, because once they start playing up they continue to do so.

It is really a very minor thing, but it causes regular trouble that you don't need.

I was hoping for some sort of lazer to zap them away, but no such thing. You don't have to live with this - simple key-hole fix, didn't even stay overnight.

it can go from mild to moderate to severe, i had severe before they operated on me. it could be bad diet or gas or anything really.

i always drink a glass of very hot (not enough to burn you but still hot) water and if its gas it goes away immediately. i did that before i took myself to the hospital the day before surgery.
