There are two types of herpes and chances are you know someone with the first one.
There is herpes simplex 1 which are blisters on your lips. Cold sores are caused by herpes simplex 1. and then there is herpes simplex 2 which is the same kind of blisters but on your genitals.

Actually there are 100 different strains of Herpes, 8 of which affect humans. HSV1 and HSV2 only being 2 of the 8 that humans can get.

Herpes is a virus that is incureable. However, it can be managed and people can live normal healthy lives.

Herpes (herpes simplex virus) is a viral infection. FEVER BLISTERS are actually from a strand of this virus. So, think of fever blisters--how they are sore, tender, red, sometimes crusty...you get the point. You either get it in the oral cavity (mouth, lips,etc) or genitally (vagina or penis).
