If my daughter wasn't social she would be identified as a child with autism. She was very slow to develop both fine and gross motor skills. She began walking independantly at 15 months, had trouble writing and cutting. I was fortunate enough to be able to afford extensive therapy when she was young and with it she has made some great strides. She is 13 now, learned to ride a two wheel bike last year, can tie her own shoes, etc. The reason she had problems with these things is because she couldn't process. Kate was also diagnosed with sensory issues...loud sounds affected her, being on her back scared her but she has overcome those issues. She was also diagnosed with expressive and receptive language disorder. Kate has been able to overcome that and although it takes her a few minutes she can communicate. My email address is jacquit64@hotmail.com. Feel free to communicate with me. I know it is a very stressful time for you and I wish I would have known where to turn for help. If we don't talk, please don't give up, please keep challenging him and build on abilities rather than focus on disabilities.

Good luck.
