My two year old has a rash?!

Question: My son has this rash on his inner elbow. He says it hurts, and itches. It's red with little white flat bumps and it looks like there are blood spots all over the area. I called the Dr. to get an appointment, but they seemed to not care. They told me to put Hydrocotizone(sp) on it for a week, even though that's what I have been doing. It's slowly spreading.
Has anyone had any experience with anything like this before? If so, what did you do to make it go away?
One more note, he has eczema, but this rash is WAY different than anything I've seen on him before.

Eczema is in outcropping of an allergy. Your son may have started an allergy. Hydrocortosone cream may stop the itching but, it's doing nothing about the healing or, control.

Some of the skin damage may be from itching. Wash the area good with Aveeno liquid soap then let the water cool down to cool the skin, this may help.

Either make an appointment with an allergist or ask for a referral. Do not give him a Benadryl if anyone suggests it, the antihistamine will screw up any test the doctor may want to give for up to ten days.

Call the doctor back up and tell them you want him seen by the doctor. If they can't get him in a time frame you are happy with take him to the emergency room and let a doctor there look at him.

go to a walk in clinic
