Heart Pain?!

Question: My wife has been having chest pain's for awhile. Not really any other symptoms but that. I mean she has asthma, and sometimes it's a tightness. She's only 22 and is afraid to to go the doctor to end up finding out it's something serious at her age. Sometimes it get's pretty bad. It's not like all the time more of at random intervals sometimes. Sometimes "sometimes" accompanied with difficulty breathing.

Any advice on what it could possibly be before we setup a doctor's appointment would be appreciated.

Other things can cause tightness in the chest although we always think of the heart first and appropriately so because it is so important. It would be extremely unlikely that a woman this young would develop coronary artery disease without risk factors(strong family history, industrial strength cholesterol levels, uncontrolled hypertension, type I diabetes). Keep in mind that bronchospasm can be also perceived as chest tightness and common things like GERD can closely mimic cardiac disease. A complete checkup is a good idea if only to put your mind at ease. Typical angina is generally reliably related to a certain level of exertion and relieved within 10-15 minutes of rest. It doesn't come and go randomly and last for hours at a time.

She needs to get it checked out. If it is something serious, how is not knowing going to help her? Don't wait for an appointment if the pain starts again. Take her to the emergency room.

ignoring that can lead her to sth serious she should c a doc there can be sth minor but she must c a doc
