What's the matter when I get blood from my ears?!

Question: Okay. I've had nose problems all my life and now I find out March 5 when I get surgery on that. And I think my nose has a lot of doing with my ears. My ear drum errupted when I was little and ever since then I get between 8-10 ear infections a year or more. Well ever since I had my major nose bleed back around christmas, I've had an ear infection. Well my right ear popped today and it felt like something was running out and I took a q-tip and it was blood. Not a whole lot, but enough.

I know in the beginning of 2007, I had a bad nose bleed with an ear infection. When I blew my nose, I got a lot blood clots out of my nose and my ear infection was gone. I also get really bad sinus infections. I just got over one a few weeks ago.

Can my ears be connected to my nose problems? And is there anyway of fixing it?

There is a physical connection between the ears, nose and throat. I can't comment upon your condition as I have no medical training - it seems to me that you would want to talk with a medical practitioner to ease your concerns.

There is a website - http://www.healthsquare.com/fgpd/fg4ch13... which explains the connections between the ears, nose and throat.

I do know that these connections are used to equalise pressure, and therefore if there was to be a pressure build up or sudden pressure realise in your nasal cavity or sinus it is conceivable that this would have an effect on the inner areas of your ear. However, if I had bleeding from the ear, regardless of all other circumstances, I would be talking to a doctor about it.

Good luck with your surgery and all the best for the future.

I am not a doctor, but I think your two problems are related. Get a referral from your primary doctor or a friend or go to http://www.earnosethroat.org/ to find a specialist in your area.
