it could mean you have an infection or virus that your body is fighting. I would see a doctor since it has been going on for over a week. he/she may give you antibiotics. other than that you should make sure to drink lots of fluids and take vitamin c. also idk if you are over 21 but i find that drinking hot whiskey helps. If you are underage then try hot water with lemon and honey.

Go to the doctor it may be a sign of an infection. You may require anti-biotics.

could be one of many things. could be a really bad case of tonsilitis. Could be glandular fever. could be a thing called Quinzy which is a really bad infection and your lymph nodes get swollen and your throat fills with pus and bacteria etc. Check it out with a GP.

Massage your lymph nodes, place two fingers behind your earlobes. Firm but gently run your fingers from behind you earlobes down to your collar bone. Always move your fingers downward, not up. Go from earlobe to collarbone, earlobe to collarbone, This will help circulation. Then, are you using a humidifier? Drinking at least 48 ounces of water, stay away from soda and caffeine. Get alot of rest. and try getting some eucalyptis oil and dabbing the oil on your shirt collar, smells good and helps with sinuses and kills germs. Oh, and if your symptoms don't get better in the next day or two I would seriously think about seeing the Doctor, if it's been a week already, it may be too late for all of the above.

Here is a testimonial that healed the issue.

SEA SALT AND BAKING SODA
BATHING WITH ACV, EPSOM SALTS AND HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
9/18/2007: Damaris from Kissimmee, Florida writes: "My daughter woke in the morning with her neck swollen on one side. I took her to the dr/ to see what it was. I was told she had a lymph node infection. He prescribed antibiotics for it. I don't agree with antibiotics so I went to this website and search for the cure. I did the 1 cup of water with 1 teaspoon sea salt and 1 tspoon of baking soda. I made her drink as much as she could of that. She's 5 yr old and its difficult to make her drink anything she don't like. I also gave her a few yogurts to eat. And bathed her in a bath of water with 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1 cup of epsom salts and 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide. I made sure to continuously pour the water over her throat area. well, I was amazed to see that it was no longer swollen that night and the next morning she was just fine like nothing ever happened.
