bowel walls should be smooth, not spongy. it is one of the things that makes your diagnosis of crohn's what it is.

one of my best friends has crohns disease. it just means your intestines arent big or strong enough to digest much food. get it checked every so often or of it becomes painful

I think the spongy part may be the small ulcers that form on the intestinal walls. Soft means it doesn't have the strength of a healthy intestinal wall.

Google: mayo clinic>>diseases>>crohn's disease

You will need an adequete supply of lavatory bowl cleaner

Talk to your doctor about it. They should be able to answer all of your questions for you. It's best to talk to a professional about medical questions.

Chohns is a disease that attacks your bowel lining preventing your body to get certain nutrients etc through the lining.
Crohns sufferers will usually be refered to a hospital specialist as this condition can have bad flare ups & needs to be monitored & treated by a profesional.

see this site http://www.crohns.org.uk/

Why didn't you ask your doctor that question?
I suggest you take an active role in your treatment- learning as much as you can about it and asking your doctor lots of questions. Also, it would be helpful to you to look everywhere you can for info-not just rely on your doctor.

Hi I have Crohn's Disease too. Basically, your immune system can't tell what's supposed to be there and what isn't so it attacks it all. Your intestines will usually have blisters/ulcers on the inside which can cause alot of pain and even burst. This then leaves scar tissue on the intestine walls which obviously weaken. I have recently been in hosp for 2 weeks when something burst inside, not a nice time!! Starting to feel like popeye, the amount of steroids I'm on at the min!!
