Can you fly if you are suffering from tinnitus?!


Question: last time i flew, i had the beginnings of sinus trouble - the descent was very painful - all this caused tinnitus - this was a year ago but i still hear riniging in my ears - can i fly again?

i don't see why not.....i go to the airport and rent a plane and fly every week, and i've had that ringing in my ears for over 20 years now.....although alot of mine is due to loud stage volumes as my band plays every weekend....even though the ringing subsides a little by the start of each week, it never really goes away. it doesn't affect my ability to fly the aircraft though, and if I can fly one, you should be able to ride in one with no problems.

commercial airliners are pressurized at cruise altitude to an equivelant altitude of 8000 feet, and I routinely fly above that without pressurization, so you'll be fine
