Is there any risk of contracting hiv by oral sex?!

Question: I haven't been feeling well lately and I'm really worried, I've had oral with at least 8 people. I'm going to take a blood test next week and I'm very nervous, because even if it's ok I know the virus can be there for years before you start with the symptoms

You have a better chance of getting an STD from oral sex that HIV. With HIV and oral sex it's about the condition of your mouth- any sores, had you flossed earlier? With oral sex you need to get semen or vaginal fluid in your mouth, but the length of time it's there is VERY SHORT so there is not a log time for exposure. You would either swallow the fluid or spit it out, there for the exposure time is very short. so yes there is a very low chance of HIV infection.

For your peace of mind get an HIV test, then get another one in 3 month- the window period for HIV to show up is 90 days- with some of the new test it's 6-12 weeks.

Your not feeling well could easily be stress about worrying.

I teach people about safer sex pratices and alway suggest oral as a risk reduction if you don't have a condom its not 100% safe, but as I stated earlier you have a better chance of getting an STD than you do HIV.

There is a risk of contracting HIV whenever there is an exchange of body fluid, and oral sex is included in that. The risk is lower than with other forms of sex, but the risk is still there. Go have your blood test done, but go back again in 6 months, as it can take that long before the virus shows up in a test. If you're negative, take this as a lesson that you need to be more careful about who you have sexual contact with. And use condoms or dental dams for protection during oral sex if you're not sure about the person's history. They're not perfect in protecting against STDs, but they're better than not using anything.

Yes it is possible. If you have a cut, sore, or anykind of opening in the skin inside of your mouth, or throat that person body fluid getting in that opening if they have HIV or HEP B, you could contract it. If the skin inside of your mouth is intact, bodily fluid from your partner entering your stomach does not pose a risk, because of the acid in your stomach.

If you are negative, you are negative. The virus can be there years before symptoms but not if you test negative.

Yes unfortunately you can contract the virus that way. If you have any type of sores or open wounds and you had contact with body fluids or blood.

All very good answers here...Hope that your test is negative...good luck! :O)
