STDs passed through saliva?!

Question: Is it possible? and what are the STDs that can be passed down by saliva? I mean for example in oral sex STDs can be transmited; is it because of the saliva (for example when a girl receives it, what are the risks? [If she doesn't have contact with any genital fluids, only with the saliva] The only risk I know is like HPV or Herpes if exposed to the sores/warts) or in this case, is the guy who has the most risk for having contact with the genital fluids? If yes, if some can be in the saliva, why aren't they passed down by kissing?

I am confused, and I would like to be informed, I would appreciate your help and information. I cannot ask that to my parents because they would think I will do it and they'll probably get mad at me.

Very highly unlikely that any are passed via Saliva...however if the Saliva has blood in it and that person is infected...then there is a fair chance to contract STIs/STDs. HSV-1 can be passed via Saliva if person again is infected. Gonorrhea may possibly live in the mouth & throat, so therefore, this is also a slim possibility, but remote. Syphillis can also be present in the mouth & lips and therefore a remote possibility of transmission. Hope this helped!

The reason most STDs don't survive in the mouth is because the digestive enzymes kill the bacteria and viruses before they can cause infection. Whereas the genital region is warm and moist and basically the perfect place for an infection to thrive!

I don't know of any std's passed through saliva (herpes is not passed through saliva). Yes, you can get herpes if a guy has it on his lips and goes down on you. It is not passed through your saliva (so it's not from kissing) but from discharge from the sore. They have done tests that prove things such as HIV are not transferable through saliva.

experts said...you need to swallow gallons of saliva to get HIV or AIDS from a carrier...
