What would you do if a doctor told you your child has autism?!

Question: They have and the one thing I would tell everyone...is there is hope. But you will need LOTs of Patience, support and faith. YOU will make th difference. Staying calm and research. Remember that you are your child's advocate. Find a support organization and a physician that will support you. Therapy of all type is a requirement !

Get a second/third/fourth opinion to make sure.
Autism is over diagnosed in my mind.. find another doctor just to be sure.

I would find a behavioral therapist in your area to work with you and your family my sister and brother in law do this line of work and they have a web site that is helpful behaviorinterventions.org

Make sure the diagnosis is correct with second opinions. If it turns out that your child has autism, I would find anything and everything within in my power to help the child and family take care of him/her and each other. Get materials for special schools respit etc. Good Luck and God bless

I have a 16 year ols with Asperger Syndrome and a 5 year old with autism I was able to have him diagnosed through our local school district. In CA we have a organization called the Inland Regional Center. Offer official testing and support services to autistic families.

I would find a Floortime therapist. I wouldn't trust quack Jenny McCarthy diets or DAN doctors, with their chelation therapy, or accupunturists or biofeedback practitioners with my child. Most of all, I wouldn't go to a damned behavior modification therapist.
