Absolutely, that can happen. It happened to my son today. I agree with everyone that you need to double check the machine when you have a high number. You could have some sort of sugar on your hand. Even some soaps or lotions will give you a high reading. If you just ate something, then it is possible for your blood sugar to be high and then go down by itself as the food digests. Also, I've noticed that with my son, if he goes too low, his liver will produce sugar and send him high. if you were exercising or going low, i believe that it is possible for your body to naturally defend itself by producing too much sugar, which will send you high. Keep an eye on it but yes, it happens .

Always double check reading this high. It could be the machine. 148 an hour and a half after eating sounds good to me. Sounds to me as if your Dr. needs to set you up with diabetes educator. Diabetes is a tricky disease. And takes strict Management as you know. Good Luck.

Your doctor did diagnose "pre-diabetes". Well, I am curious what conversation your doctor had with you about "pre-diabetes".

Treat this as a wake up call. The life style of a diet controlled diabetic is a life of eating properly, moderately along with daily aerobic exercise. You will not be consider more than an individual who nothing uglier than a healthy person. Best of all the likelihood of you developing a diabetic condition will be reduced.

It's a great little 122 page booklet. You may find a free ebook version.

Best Wishes.

You should always double check your reading. I use to have a freestyle meter and I always got false reading on the things. I had them send me a new meter and I still got false reading. It would say my sugar was in the 400's and it would actually be normal. I once to didn't feel well, so when it told me my sugar was 452 I took a big shot of Insulin. The problem was the reading was wrong it was actually low, so I of course had to start shoveling food in my mouth, so you should always double check it. I would also have your doctor look at your meter and make sure it is giving you right readings. I got rid of my freestyle meter because i was sick of all the bad reading. My moms freestyle meter does the same thing to her, so I don't know if we keep getting bad meters, or if freestyle just has a lot of false readings!!
