I've got the flu...OK to go to work tomorrow?!

Question: I started with the flu very suddenly on Tuesday afternoon. It is now Friday night. I was sick all night Tues. with aches, pains, chills and headache. I was sick all day Wed and called off work Wed night. I was sick all day Thursday again, and felt mildly better this morning but now I have developed a horrible head and chest cold, just since yesterday morning. I am supposed to work tomorrow all day. I have not been to a doctor. My fever has gone, but I still feel like crap. I work in an eye doctor's office. Do you think it advisable for me to go to work in the morning? I don't want to infect my co-workers or patients.

My boss actually encourages up to come to work ill and I think that's how I got sick in the first place (because someone came to work sick), which I think is wrong. Just one of the many reasons why I am disgruntled with my current employer right now.

AW!!! Poor thing!! Here's my take on it. Stay home and go to one of those "doc in a box" places. They'll give you a Dr's note. I HATE when people either come in sick, or worse, when clients bring their sick kids in who "need" a haircut! Yeah, get ME and MY kids sick, why don't ya'"?? Anyway...screw your employer. You're SICK and don't need to make your self worse by not resting. Plus, aren't you just a little pissed at the person who came in sick and passed it on to you?? Stay home and rest, girly!! Tell them your Yahoo friend said it was OK!!! LOL

yeah its ok if you want to kill your co-workers

No, please stay home. You will spread the germs. The work place will take much longer to get rid of them If everybody keep bringing them back.

I would give yourself some more rest or you may end up worse.

Don't be retarted, don't go to work.

DON'T! Not good for you, and not for others! The Boss can check with the AMA on their recommendations!

think you should stay home until the major symptoms are gone are more improved.
If you still have the fatigue etc stay home

Don't be stupid don't go to work you will just pick up another bug in your weakened state and end up in a worse state in a few days. You need to rest and allow your immune system to rebuild its defences, im talking lots of orange juice and some zinc

Well, in my opinion, I think you should stay home, atleast until you can think straight without all the pains distracting you and if I were you I would wait atleast 12 hours after getting better just in case your symptoms come back.

I going through the same thing right now. If you have the time. . . stay home. I made the mistake of going back to work today (home Mon-Thurs) and started feeling worse by 1pm than I felt yesterday. I think I might have pneumonia. It's easily being passed back and forth at work. Stay home until you feel better. Good Luck!

Ugh, I'm a nurse at the hospital and my coworkers are ticked if someone comes to work with a bad cold/flu. Take some cold meds, drink lots, and if you can get a good night's sleep see how you feel in the morning. Colds and flus are spread by droplet, which is the tiny spit particles that you emit when you cough or sneeze, or if you get any mucous from your nose on your hands. So if you are coughing and sneezing and have a runny nose a lot then you have to be very diligent about washing your hands, and careful to cover your mouth when you cough/sneeze.
If an over-the-counter cold medicine doesn't relieve all your cold symptoms, then the cold is still too acute- stay home. I hope you feel better soon!

I say if you feel terrible and nothing good about you don't go to work. But if you feel 50% good you should go to work, but wear sweaters and jackets. But if you really care about the patients and co-workers try to stay home and rest.

You should not go to work because your cold could turn into pheumonia and if your not taken care if this matter you could land yourself in the hospital, good luck!
