How can I not get a coldsore after having a cold?!

Question: Im just getting sick today, and everytime I have a cold or anything, I get a coldsore without fail about a week after.
What can I do to prevent it? Vitamin C and eating healthy havn't helped.

They say the amino acid Lysine helps (vitamin aisle) but I've never had any luck with it.

My mother in-law swears that eating half a cup of broccoli everyday prevents them too.

I suffer from cold sores too, probably 3-5 a year and it seems to never fail that every time I think about one I get one.

Try not to think about it and maybe it will pass you by or it might just be a minor outbreak.

Also if you suffer from cold sores a lot you can talk to your doctor about possibly taking an antiviral (such as zovirax capsules) prophylacticly.

Best of health to ya!

buy Abreva, as soon as you feel it coming on, put the Abreva on and it should keep it from coming out all the way.

Abreva is about $18 around here. That is for the newer tube (it's like a pump). You can still get the old tube (it is a real pain, it oozes everywhere and you can't keep it in your pocket. Have to keep in a bottle or something so it doesn't get squeezed) it's about $11 if they still have any left.
