A teen developing mild allergies?!

Question: I had only minor allergies before in childhood, small sporatic episodes of caughing, post nasal drip, stuff like that. But I'm almost 17 now, and I've been getting small rashes if I eat too much Vitamin C (oranges, clementines etc) and if I'm around dust I get a runny nose and my eyes feel irritated, around household cleaners I get irritated too. My stepdad says it's okay to develop allergies as you get older, it happens. But, could this be a sign of my immune system weakening or something?

No. People will develop allergies at all ages. Your immune system is okay. I would watch the rashes. You may have to have a patch test to see what allergens are bothering you the most and you may at some point need some medication...depending on how bad it is. If it is moderate, OTC stuff should help you.

It isn't unusual at all to become more sensitive to things as you get older. If you are worried about your immune system you can always check with your doctor.
