I feel like there is a phlegm-ball stuck in my esophagus?!

Question: I have the awful sensation of a phlegm-ball in my esophagus. There is a strong urge to try and swallow it down, however nothing i do, swallow, eat or drink will dislodge it. It is extremely unpleasant and even though it feels as if there is a blockage I suspect that there isn't. What the heck could be causing this sensation. It has been coming and going for about a week and is not always in the exact same spot.

I think your lining of your esophagus is wearing away from acid reflux sounds like you need to go see a Gastroenterologist and have what is called an EGD, where they use a tube with a camera to see what is going on in your esophagus. If not perhaps you should see your Dr and get some Protonix because that little purple pill does not do a thing, for acid reflux.
Do you have acid reflux?
Do you smoke? Drink?
Or Drink alot of Pop?
If you do then cut the coffee and cut back on the pop and smokes and go get the protonix and take as directed you should be better in a couple weeks however continue to take the protonix at least for a few weeks too heal the damage.
If not any better go have the EGD.
As always talk to your health care professional.

Please consult an ENT specialist. He will insert a fiber optic scope with a camera through your nose into your esophagus and see what is causing your discomfort..

Get an EGD . PPIs are all different some like protonix work better on some people and others do better on Nexium. There also other PPIs to choose from. They stop the stomach acid from doing further damage to your esophagus. You should also try raising the top of your bed so you don't lie flat. But get an EGD to check for Gerd or Barretts just to be on the safe side.
