Cats and salmonella?!

Question: A knowledgeable source from my work told me that cats excreat salmonella through their saliva.

I honestly dont believe this and have found no proof in my research.

Has anyone else heard this or has someone just pulled my chain?

that's true. Dogs and especially CATS can shed Salmonella organisms in both their feces and saliva, meaning that transmission can occur via licking. only if, the cat is suffering from SALMONELLOSIS.

Try refining your research. Salmonella is carried in all feline and canine bodily fluids.
Don't let them lick your dinner and you should be ok!
